FORT MYERS, FLORIDA (January 28, 2015) In an effort to provide continued support to the community, a Fort Myers pool company announces it is co-sponsoring and participating in two upcoming fundraisers. For the third year in a row, Pool Pros, Inc. of Fort Myers, Florida is sponsoring the Calusa BUG Chase 5K & 1/2 Mile BUG Crawl Trail Walk on January 31st. The event is a fundraiser for the Fort Myers Metro-McGregor Kiwanis BUG (“Bringing Up Grades”) program. In addition, this year Pool Pros will also be sponsoring the Take Stock in Children’s “Strides for Education” 5K Walk / Run Fundraiser, which takes place on February 7th.

“My wife, Theresa, and I both share a passion for education,” said Joe Mitchell, Owner of Pool Pros. “We have made it a priority over the years to remain involved with education through a variety of volunteer opportunities. Some of these include promoting male involvement in schools with the WATCHDOG program, volunteering in the classrooms, supporting local teacher grants through the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce, and sponsorship of local events that support educational causes. Most importantly, we value working with our own children to show them the importance of family, respect for others, health, and education. Events like The BUG Run and Strides for Education are a great way to tie all of these things together and help children succeed.”

In addition to sponsoring these events, the Mitchell Family (including Joe, owner of Pool Pros, his wife Theresa, and their children Stellen & Finley) will also be participating in both fundraisers.

The BUG Chase event will be held on Saturday, January 31st at the Calusa Nature Center. Participants will run or walk through the picturesque scenery, wildlife, and educational exhibits at the Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium, providing an extraordinary setting for this event. Day-of registration begins at 6:30am, and the race kicks off at 7:30am. Pre-registration is available online at www.ftmyerstrackclub.com. All profits go to support the Bringing Up Grades programs at Colonial, Littleton, and Orangewood elementary schools, along with other community service projects.

The Strides for Education 5K will be held on February 7th at Florida Southwestern State College. The course includes a shaded tour of Florida SouthWestern State College’s beautiful campus. Timing will be handled by the Fort Myers Track Club for those participating in the timed race. Participants are also encouraged to run for the fun of it, stroll with family and friends, or bring kids out for the “Kids’ Dash.” Registration is at 7:00 AM, and the race starts 8:00 AM. Pre-registration is available online at www.classy.org/fort-myers/events/strides-for-education-lee-county/e37927. The Kids’ Dash will commence after the last person has completed the primary race. Proceeds from the 5K support the Take Stock in Children Scholarship Program, from which over 600 Lee County Children have earned a life-changing scholarship. This year’s goal is to raise $30,000 for the program.

The BUG Chase and Strides for Education are just two of the many charitable events and community organizations that Pool Pros has supported throughout the years. For more information about Pool Pros and the company’s various community involvement efforts, visit http://www.PoolPros-Inc.com.
